Taste around 90 of South Africa’s top wines as judged at this year’s Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, in an informal showcase environment. Wines on show are all silver, gold or trophy medal winning wines from the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2012 judging of over 1 000 wines from a range of over 40 classes of entry. All award winners, the list of wines and producers in attendance at the public tastings and the most prestigious award, the Most Successful Producer, will be kept under wraps until 30 May when the full results of the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2012 are announced. Trophy winners include Discovery of the Show (Best Value). All wines present at the public tasting can be ordered at special deal prices on the night.
Achieving an Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show medal is a significant accolade thanks to the intense scrutiny that each wine entry is subjected to by a panel of nine judges comprising international and local expertise. Said Michael Fridjhon, chairman of the judging panel for the 11th year running: “The past decade has seen extraordinary changes at the top end of the South African wine industry and the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show played an important role in discovering new talent and showcasing this achievement”.
Ticket sales via Computicket will open on 30 April. The ticket price of R120 includes a tasting glass, unlimited tastings and a take-home copy of ICONS, the show’s comprehensive review of all the successful wines of the year. The Early Bird ticket price of R100 applies until Sunday 27 May. Refreshments will be for sale at the venues.
